Use Your Senses to
Execute the Basics
Once You Have the Basics Down, Go to the Well
Finding your idea-WELL!
Think about some of the chit-chat you had with an employee or customer. Do you recall anything about your product that was mentioned?
• Is there a special event coming up your product is used for?
• Is there a recipe it is used in?
• Are there any new uses for the product you weren't aware of?
• Are there any family moments where it was used?
• How often do you use it?
• How do the employees use it?
• Any stories worth repeating?
From there, simple ideas are developed into a graphic, radio, print or TV commercials.
Here is an example from my idea-WELL...chatting with a production room meat counter girl one day, she mentioned,
"I have an auntie Clair, she’s the one that makes Sunday my favorite day of the week. Now this is a women that could cook. When I’d get home from church, there’d be a few neighbors around the table staring at the smoked ham, a steaming pot roast, mashed potatoes and candied sweet potatoes... Like all cooks she started her meals using the freshest ingredients..."
My employees were always the source of my ideas for our advertisements. The above example was one of five radio commercials in a campaign that won a Creative Choice Award for “Best Radio Commercial” at the National Grocer’s Association. The idea came from chit chat while helping fill the meat counter on a busy day with a loyal employee and it developed from there.
